Howarth Timber Engineering has supplied engineered timber joists, insulated structural spandrel wall panels, soffits and fascia boards for the construction of 13 new social housing bungalows in North Shields.

The 28-week project, built by main contractor Surgo Construction, was completed ahead of schedule despite access problems.

Howarth said a very demanding timeframe of 28 weeks to clear the site and construct the new homes placed pressure on all suppliers. The company condensed its lead time by four weeks to help Surgo met its project obligations.

Nomad Housing Group commissioned the £1.13m project and the homes are now occupied.
