A preliminary injunction has saved trees in Giant Sequoia National Monument from being logged.
A federal judge issued the injunction which will keep more than 1,000 acres intact in the preserve which is home to two-thirds of the world’s largest trees.
However, the US Forest Service has argued that timber sales help preserve logging jobs and the ecosystem.
They said the project would have thinned out smaller trees that are fire hazards – not cleared the area.
