The Institute of Chartered Foresters has elected Bill MacDonald as president.

A Fellow of the Institute, Mr MacDonald is market development adviser at the Forestry Commission Wales.

“I’m looking forward to the challenges that we will face as an industry over the two years of my tenure. In contrast to the current doom and gloom surrounding most industries, the mood at our recent conference was very upbeat,” said Mr MacDonald. “Yes, there will be challenges and changes but forestry makes a sustainable product that will be much used whatever the economic climate.”

Joining Mr MacDonald on the ICF Council is the new vice-president Fenning Welstead, a partner at John Clegg & Co in Edinburgh.
