The event, staged at the Masstricht Mecc in Holland for the first time, saw visitor numbers drop 2% compared to the 2004 show in Belgium, but the level of international visitors from outside the Benelux was up 55% to 1,434.

People from 40 countries attended the fair, which was specially aimed at the parquet industry in western Germany. The number of visitors from the Benelux dropped by 12%.

Organisers said contacts established by exhibitors during the three-day event were “great quality”, but opinion is divided about whether Belgium or Holland is the best location to host Europarket.

Europarket covers parquet, wooden, veneer parquet, laminate and cork flooring and supplies.
