Intelligent Wood Systems (IWS) is relocating from Glenrothes to Perth to bring efficiency savings and cost benefits.

IWS, which has developed a holistic timber building system based on super-dried, treated and finger-jointed solid timber, is relocating adjacent to Glenalmond Timber’s facility in Perth.

Glenalmond managing director Fraser Steele is a joint partner in IWS, along with former connector boss Doug Cullen.

“This [move] will bring efficiency savings and cost benefits, resulting in an even more competitive offer to the industry in these challenging times,” IWS said.

“During the next few months IWS will be launching several new products and systems including a commercially attractive rim offer and a panellised roof system that will greatly improve production and installation times.”

The facility at Glenrothes will be maintained to trial and showcase the new developments.

The move will be phased over the next three to six months.

IWS already offers the IWS-Floor system and fire protection system for timber frame during construction.
