JELD-WEN Stairs has announced plans to relocate from its current Snow Hill site to Thorpe Road in Melton Mowbray.
It said that the decision to move was driven by a lack of space at its current site. The move will see JELD-WEN spend £2m renovating the 35,000m2 Thorpe Road site and will be coupled with “significant investment in plant and technology”.
JELD-WEN Stairs has been at its current 20,000m2 site since 1900, with the move set to increase production by 20% in the first year.
JELD-WEN said that the move is scheduled for sometime after the first quarter of 2008, with the official opening in early 2009.
“We are really excited about the huge opportunities for the growth of our business in the future,” said JELD-WEN Stairs general manager John Seragusa.
