The managing director of an online joinery shop has a one-in-three chance of being crowned Midlands Entrepreneur of the Year.

Duncan Williams, who runs Coleshill-based ejoinery, is a finalist in the Midlands Business Awards 2009, which takes place at the Hilton Metropole Hotel, Birmingham on January 30.

Ejoinery, established two years ago, sells doors online from a variety of UK manufacturers, as well as imports. It recently extended into windows and promotes itself in the refurbishment, small extension, loft conversion and general repairs sector.

Mr Williams said while the construction industry and housing market was suffering a downturn, his company had seen “completely the opposite”, due to its market niche supplying affordable joinery products (prices are displayed online) 24/7.

“Following the success of the online business, our plan is to grow the business in 2009 and we are currently looking to take on additional internal sales staff and open an ejoinery retail outlet in the West Midlands with others planned in strategic locations around the UK,” he said.
