The complex issues surrounding the CE marking of doors and screens will be addressed in a new annual event to be held by Chiltern International Fire and BM TRADA Q-Mark.
“Joinery 2003: Fire & Glass”, to be held in London on June 10 and repeated in Leeds on June 26, is aimed at manufacturers of doors, screens, partitions and glazing systems. It will also be relevant for any companies involved in the manufacture, installation and specification of vertical elements in buildings.
The event will be supported by Pilkington Europe, the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Trading Standards. It will cover product standards, test evidence and classification documents, placing products on the market and policing and control.
Kevin Towler, managing director of Chiltern International Fire, said: “Whether you agree with it or not, we are being drawn ever closer to Europe and, as a result, the process of placing doors, partitions, screens and their components, including glass, on the market is very likely to change.”
