Home improvement giant Kingfisher plc, which owns B&Q, says its third quarter group sales slowed to 3.6%.

The company, which also unveiled senior management changes, said results were adversely affected by the prolonged heatwave across Europe. A return of more normal weather improved sales growth during October.

Kingfisher said B&Q chief executive Bill Whiting is stepping down in January and will be replaced by Rob Cissell, currently B&Q’s managing director – commercial.

The company, which will reveal a more detailed review of the quarterly results on December 10, says it expects “satisfactory” progress for the year as a whole.
