German sawmilling giant Klenk Holz almost doubled its profits to €13.2m in 2010, according to its newly posted results.

Group sales totalled €363m (2009: €302m) – a 20% growth rate which Klenk said was “faster than expected”.

The company also said the first quarter sales were about 30% ahead of a year ago.

“The economic outlook is generally positive and we expect a signficant increase in sales for the remainder of the year,” said Klenk

It said roundwood price escalation would be a challenge in the next few months..

Total production output in 2010 was up 7.5% to 2.1 million m³, but the sharp increase in raw material prices impacted the gross profit margin.
