The company said the jobs in Quebec’s North Shore area have been compromised by the chief forester’s latest timber supply calculations.

Kruger has invested about C$170m in the area on the basis of stable supplies from the forest.

It has urged the Quebec government to re-think its timber cut figures.

A number of Kruger mills depend on the supply of timber from the North Shore area, including the Wayagamack facility in Trois-Rivieres, in which the company has invested C$500m.
