Norvik Timber Industries’ Estonian subsidiary Laesti has started up its second sawmill in Sauga.

The sawmill, which will mainly produce small diameter logs, increases Laesti’s annual production to 80,000m³ of sawn timber.

“The construction process took just over one year and was accomplished within budget,” said Olavi Tang, managing director of Laesti.

“We see Estonia as a strategic country where we want to grow our presence and the Laesti Sauga sawmill project supports this,” added Sampsa Auvinen, CEO of Norvik Timber Industries.

The opening ceremony was attended by about 150 people and has received a lot of media attention in Estonia, including from state television news.
