The Castleford-based company, which supplies the caravan, furniture and shopfitting sectors, has installed an IMA BIMA CNC processing centre to produce furniture components.

The new machine has sizing, milling and PUR features, with a straight or curved edgebanding capability, with capacity to take tape up to 65mm wide and to produce seamless joints.

Lambson says the unit will be used for both batch and one-off production of kitchen worktops, office furniture, table tops and other components in a range of sheet materials, including the company’s LammyLite lightweight board.

The machine has a 6×1.83m working dimension, enabling Lambsons to make undermounted sink worktops.

The company has also bought a Düspohl wide-width PUR hot melt laminator to complement its existing flat and profile laminating capability.

The machine has a 700mm working width, so, among other materials, can process Decorpanel tongue and groove 9mm MDF panels and a recently introduced board range using lighter weight 6mm cores.

"The laminator increases both our capacity and customer offering," said technical director Marcus Longley.
