LIGNA 2027, a major trade event for the woodworking and wood processing sector, will take place from 10 to 14 May 2027 in Hanover, Germany, under the theme “WOODBOUND FUTURE”.
Deutsche Messe and the VDMA Woodworking Machinery Association, the organisers, have chosen this theme to set out a strategic direction for the next edition of the biennial exhibition.
According to Deutsche Messe, the chosen theme is intended to unify technological progress, industrial advancement, and responsible resource management within the industry.
Organisers said the focus will be on wood as a material and on innovation as a route to a competitive future.
Deutsche Messe LIGNA global director Stephanie Wagner, explaining the reasoning behind the theme, said: “The term ‘wood’ extends beyond the material itself. It is the starting point for industrial value creation, the foundation for new material solutions, and a driver of technological advancement.
“With WOODBOUND FUTURE, we highlight how closely the industry’s future is linked to the intelligent processing and responsible use of wood.”
The organisers state that “WOODBOUND FUTURE” will cover a range of topics important for the sector, including digital production processes, automation, artificial intelligence, new materials, resource-efficient methods, circular economy concepts, and lowering CO₂ emissions.
The theme will be showcased across LIGNA’s seven exhibition areas, along with outdoor spaces hosting features such as LIGNA.Builds and LIGNA.TruckStop.
Wagner added: “Every two years, the woodworking community comes together at LIGNA to shape the future of the industry. WOODBOUND FUTURE brings these developments together under a shared vision.”
LIGNA has been held in Hanover every two years since 1975.
