The Port of London Authority (PLA) achieved a £2.6m surplus on ordinary activities before taxation last year compared to £1.1m in 2001.
Turnover amounted to £31.8m compared to £31.5m and capital employed in the PLA business rose £3.5m to £44.6m.
During 2002 the PLA handled a total cargo of 51.2 million tonnes, two million tonnes of which were forest products – down 0.1 million tonnes on 2001.
