Norwich-based Youngs Doors Ltd is now offering Lyptus plantation-grown hardwood for its high-end flush door range.
Lyptus, a Weyerhaeuser product made from eucalytpus, was already Youngs’ preferred choice for the manufacture of all lipping and beading products after the company identified the material as an environmentally-friendly and stable alternative to steam beech.
Youngs has so far used Lyptus for schools, hospitals and commercial developments.
Launched in Europe last year, Lyptus is distributed through a network of approved partners. Blumsom is the first approved UK stockist.
“The recent approval of Lyptus for window manufacture, and adoption by companies such as Blumsom and Youngs Doors, is testament to its strong credentials, and we expect its use in the UK to broaden throughout 2008,” said Weyerhaeuser’s European commercial director John Guerin.
