Metsäliitto is closing its Teuva sawmill and will centralise sawing operations into larger and more efficient units.

The company said centralisation will improve its competitiveness in an increasingly challenging business environment.

Teuva will be closed in January, 2009. Metsäliitto will also boost operations at the Kaskinen upgrading unit and adjust personnel levels in operations shared by both mills. A total of 28 jobs will be lost.

Teuva manufactures about 90,000m² of pine and spruce sawn timber a year. Part of its output will be reassigned to other sawmills.
