One of the biggest brands in UK furniture was revived today as MFI relaunched as an online retailer promising low-cost products.
Walker Capital bought the rights to the MFI brand following the retailer’s collapse into administration in 2008.
It has been working on the relaunch for two years and believes the omission of kitchens, a product area which suffered in the run-up to MFI’s descent into administration, and its cost-effective online model without the burden of costly retail units will help it attract business.
Furniture, bedrooms and bathrooms will form the core of the product range, with initial offers of 60% price reductions. New suppliers, based in the UK, Europe and the Far East, have been recruited to manufacture the ranges,
The team is headed by commercial director Adrian Storr who has 15 years’ retail experience, including nine years at MFI.
The press launch was held on yesterday at The Hospital Club in London’s Covent Garden.
