Mid Wales is set to become the UK’s centre for sustainable forestry expertise, according to Montgomeryshire MP and leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrat Party Lembit Opik.

Speaking at the opening of the new office for the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) at Llanidloes he said: ‘Mid Wales is rapidly becoming a centre for woodland conservation, adding strength to my vision that this area is to become the environmental capital of Britain.’

In addition to being the office of the FSC UK Working Group, Llanidloes is the headquarters of the Woodland Trust, which is dedicated to the protection of native woodland heritage.

Blue Line Office Furniture, Homebase and Masons Timber Products donated FSC-certified furniture and flooring for the office refurbishment.
