A bespoke timber frame system has been used to build 28 apartments for Milford Homes on a brownfield site in Croydon.

Guildford Timber Frame designed, manufactured and erected the 2,181m2 structure, including an innovative hybrid roof design using steel and infill trusses to create four penthouses.

Walls at the three-storey Birdhurst development were constructed using 89mm studs, breather foil, 9mm OSB sheathing and 90mm-thick mineral wall, with an internal plasterboard finish. Floor cassettes consisted of 250mm Masonite beams.

The timber frame was manufactured at Guildford’s Billingshurst factory and erected in only six weeks.
