British Columbia revenue minister Rick Thorpe said a lack of money for the programme in the new federal budget was disappointing.
However, natural resources minister Gary Lunn insisted during a visit to Vancouver that the government had promised C$1bn over 10 years to fight the epidemic. “The first C$200m was in the budget for 2006. The province has absolutely nothing to complain about,” he said.
