The kitchen and bedroom furniture manufacturer from Wideopen near Newcastle, had needed a CNC as machining boards using the nesting process on its existing SCM Pratix 48 NST resulted in cutting 300mm off a full size sheet of MFC every time.

It ordered a CNC from a supplier but said it almost never worked over a two-month period and had major problems linking with the existing Cabinet Vision CAD CAM system.

SCM UK was contacted and a Morbidelli Universal 3622 CNC machining centre with infeed and outfeed was specified.

A machine that mirrored BB Trade’s requirements was in SCM Group’s Rimini showroom at the time, so arrangements were made for it to be delivered and installed straight away.

The machine is loaded with a full load of panels, before suction cups grab the top panel and move it onto the work table. Nesting and drilling operations are completed, with finished panels automatically pushed off the table and onto the gantry table.

Panels are then taken to an SCM S1000 single-sided edgebander for edging.
