New NHBC housebuilding data shows that Q3 new home registrations in the UK were up 8% on the same period in 2024.
Some 30,643 new homes were registered to be built in Q3 2025, up from 28,304 in Q3, 2024.
New home registrations were up for the third consecutive quarter, 1% more than Q2 2025 (30,315) and 5% more than Q1 2025 (29,083).
Registrations were up for all house types except bungalows which were down 9%, with just 309 registered in the quarter. The best performing region was Eastern with a 46% rise in registrations, followed by the Northwest and Merseyside at +34%.
Northern Ireland, Yorkshire & Humberside and Wales saw the biggest reverses at -39%, -23% and -18% respectively.
Meanwhile, new home completions for Q3, 2025 were marginally down on a year ago at 26,417 (Q3 2024: 27,981). Private completions totalled 17,412, while rental/affordable were 9,015.
“Our latest figures show modest growth in home building, with a steady increase in registrations since the start of the year,” said Daniel Pearce, corporate strategy director at NHBC.
“While planning reforms and government investment have been welcomed, new home registration growth remains subdued as changes take time to bed in.”
