The Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation is hoping to set up an agency in west Asia to reduce exporters’ reliance on middle-men.
The corporation believes exporters can cut 20% of their costs by dealing directly with buyers.
Sarawak exports about 10%, or 200,000m3, of its annual sawn timber and plywood to the region.
