An on-line survey aimed at addressing the educational needs of the timber and forest industries has attracted 90 responses in its first month.
The survey, an initiative by Napier University‘s Centre for Timber Engineering in co-operation with the Scottish Forest Industries Cluster, is intended to provide valuable information for the cluster’s training strategy currently being developed.
Dr Sabine Nolte, project co-ordinator at the Centre for Timber Engineering, said: “Training is so dispersed, it is not a joined-up effort like the concrete industry, which has a special education office.”
The survey, which collects views about the personal educational and training needs of individuals working in the forest industries, can be viewed at www.cte.napier.ac.uk/survey.html for the next five months. An employers’ version allows companies to express their training requirements.
