Former timber trader Peter Condon has published his first Open Learning Courses written specifically for the timber industry.

He launched WRAP Technology, 12 months ago and says his commitment to the cause of better distance learning for the timber trade is demonstrated by the fact that it took him nearly a year to develop the style and write the first books.

The holder of a master’s degree in forest products technology and an instigator and major contributor to the distance learning package for the Institute of Wood Science, Mr Condon said he was tired of all the ‘textbook’ styles of learning materials available today.

This prompted him to develop his own series and the result is two sets of books. Buying and Selling Timber provides the basis of materials knowledge for many in the timber trade and DIY fields while Timber Organisation and Materials is more detailed, with up to 25 books dealing with eight subject areas.

Mr Condon said the books were designed to add to, rather than replace, company training. For further information tel: 01386 761101.
