The PEFC forest and forest products environmental certification scheme is marking 10 years of operating in the UK.
It has now issued 1,300 chain of custody certificates in the country, the second highest national tally worldwide and 20% of its global total.
The scheme has also awarded forest management certification to one million ha of UK woodland, including all Forestry Commission forests in England, Scotland and Wales, and 500 private forest estates.
Most of the leading paper merchants in the country now offer PEFC certified products and, following on from this, 500 printers have chain of custody certification.
The PEFC logo is also appearing increasingly in magazines and other publications, including The Economist, The Big Issue and John Lewis, British Airways and Tesco company magazines.
