The UK Certification Scheme for Sustainable Forest Management has applied to undergo assessment by the Pan European Forest Certification (PEFC) Council.
Independent consultants Indufor Oy Consultants will assess the UK scheme.
The Swiss national forest certification scheme, Swiss Q Label, is the latest to be endorsed by the PEFC Council, bringing the number of schemes under the PEFC mutual recognition umbrella to nine.
A Spanish scheme has also been put up for assessment, with FORM Ecology undertaking the review process.
