Lumber valued at P1.3m has been seized by Philippino government officials.

Eight trucks carrying logs without proper documentation were personally stopped by the secretary of the department of environment and natural resources in Quezon City. Locally-felled logs were hidden among logs imported from Malaysia.

Further investigations resulted in the confiscation of additional processed lumber at Manila Port plus a further truckload of logs. Thousands of bundles of processed lumber, including auan and apitong, were recovered in total.

Eleven trucks which managed to leave the port are being tracked by police.
