More than £4,000 was raised for charity at the January 26 event, while John Guerin from Lumin Plywood captivated guests with his insights into the plywood market.

Mr Guerin demonstrated a passion for plywood products in his presentation and gave observations on the current and future market, resulting in positive feedback from PCL members.

Club chairman Miles Kember, of James Latham, told members and guests that the Club had enjoyed a good year, with well supported monthly events. Events included a summer function at Roof East Stratford for 50 guests, as well an away day to London Gateway.

Mr Kember also signalled an extra special annual dinner next year to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the annual event.

PCL notices include Gary Mitchell stepping down as secretary after 10 years, while Geoff Maynard has stepped down from the PCL Committee after 30 years – an amazing stint and his service was warmly recognised by members and guests.

Over £4,000 was raised for charity, a mixture of local charities and the BHF and Alzheimers Research UK.
