Representatives from Pro Populus, Cose and Garnica Plywood were among those attending a meeting of European poplar producers in northern Spain.
The delegates discussed the current availability and demand for wood in Europe, specifically poplar consumption and production trends. They also discussed the “urgent need” to promote the cultivation of poplar to meet the needs of the market.
Conclusions and recommendations will be communicated during the first meeting of new organisation European Poplar Producers, to be held in Valladolid on March 9. Those attending will include local and regional forestry representatives, poplar producers’ associations, public and private owners of poplar plantations and industrial manufacturers of poplar-based timber products.
