A new 600-bed hotel for the Travel Inn chain at Heathrow Airport has made extensive use of BBA approved Sterling OSB 3 from Nexfor.

The hotel, which was largely prefabricated off-site by Potton, features Sterling OSB 3 as the external sheathing to the timber framed units.

Potton commercial director Tony Hutchinson said the company uses Nexfor’s Sterling OSB 3 because it is competitively priced and it works.

He added: “Our consultants and insurers are prepared to underwrite its use and our production people like it bcause the material is straightforward to work with and offers consistent performance.”

Potton uses Sterling OSB 3 to produce wall panels, complete with servcies and sound insulation, that are then assembled into finished room modules. The main structural role of Sterling OSB 3 is to resist racking forces in the frame, both during transport and within the completed building. Potton also uses the product in the roofs and floors of some projects.
