US timber company Rayonier quadrupled its fourth quarter profits to US$56.4m.

The performance was in part due to a one-off US$30.5m gain from the sale of New Zealand timber assets.

Rayonier recorded profits of US$182.8m for the whole of 2005, up from US$156.9m in 2004.

The company owns, leases or manages 2.5 million acres of timberland in the US, New Zealand and Australia.
