The assets of Cheshire-based door distributor SeaDec Ltd are being sold after a failure to find a buyer for the company.

About 6,500 pre-finished engineered internal oak doors are being sold by Tallon Associates, which has been appointed by receivers Eamonn Richardson of KPMG. The stock is thought to be worth in the region of £270,000.

SeaDec’s Altrincham site was the UK operation of Ireland-based door importer and distributor SeaDec. Assets at the Irish site in Ferbane, County Offaly have already been sold.

Mr Richardson told TTJ that SeaDec, which imported products from China, had been a victim of the general downturn in construction, particularly the housebuilding market in Ireland.

He said the company had made a loss of £70,000 in 2011 and losses of £123,000 and £487,000 in the previous two years.

Turnover was £2.9m last year, down from a peak of £4.3m.
