The organisation’s survey for the fourth quarter of 2012 shows 15% more surveyors across the country reported they were expecting workloads to grow over the coming 12 months. T
he RICS said this upturn was reflected in a small increase in reported workloads for the quarter. Some 6% of respondents indicated that activity has increased, with the biggest gains in the infrastructure sector and private commercial development.
“After a truly dreadful year, if one believes the official data, there are signs that 2013 will bring some better news for the construction sector,” said Simon Robinson, RICS chief economist.
“Most notably, the numerous measures that the government has introduced with a focus on infrastructure appear to be bearing some fruit.”
