RK Timber Engineering’s recently opened roof truss and I-beam manufacturing plant is gearing up to full capacity to allow the company to expand into south Wales, said sales director Gordon Campbell.

The £1m site in Newport, which started operation in December 2007, is designed to open up more of the market for engineered timber products in south Wales and the south-west of England.

It is parent company Saint-Gobain Building Distribution’s eighth engineered timber manufacturing facility in the UK (through RK Timber Engineering and Pasquill Roof Trusses Ltd).

“With the increase in demand for pre-fabricated and off-site manufactured products, the services and products supplied by both RK Timber Engineering and Pasquill will continue to grow,” said Mr Campbell.

Mr Campbell added that the plant was part of a strategic plan by Saint-Gobain to increase its manufacturing and distribution network in the UK.
