A man has been charged with two counts of causing death by careless driving in relation to a fatal accident in Hereford in February when a lorry carrying roof trusses struck a bridge.

Partners Terri-Ann Barnett and Thomas Matts were both killed when a lorry collided with a bridge, shedding its load of timber roof trusses.

A man was charged on May 19 and has been bailed to appear at Hereford Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday June 1.

The lorry involved belonged to an independent haulage company and had been carrying roof trusses, manufactured by a Hereford timber engineering company, to a customer when the incident happened.
