The Princess, who is president of the City & Guilds of London Institute, spoke to many of the students individually about their projects and their ambitions.
The college specialises in vocational education in carpentry, stonemasonry, conservation and site management.
Furniture makers in residence Mauro Dell’Orco and Steven Cook were presented to the Princess.
The college is currently kiln drying 13m-long planks of 5,000-year-old black oak for the Diamond Jubilee Fenland Black Oak Project in preparation for the crafting of a masterpiece table.
The Princess unveiled a plaque in European oak created by the college’s carving tutor Saena Ku to commemorate the visit.
