Russia and Finland are to hold a conference focusing on co-operation in the timber industry in Helsinki in October.
The decision to boost mutual investment was made during talks between the Russian prime minister Mikhail Fradkov and Finnish prime minister Matti Taneli Vanhane.
Other mutual investments could be made in transportation, energy and telecommunications.
Mr Vanhanen said Finnish timber companies want to increase their purchase of raw materials from Russia.
