Swedish forest products company SCA has seen its annual profits before tax rise 6% to SKr8.4bn (2009: SKr8bn).

The group’s sales decreased 2% during 2010 to SKr109bn.

SCA’s solid wood products, timber and pulp division saw operating profits rocket 103% to SKr2.54bn, with sales rising 47% to SKr603m.

SCA said higher prices and productivity improvements had a positive impact on profit. Sales of wood products during the fourth quarter grew by 4%.

The sawmilling business delivered 1.817 million m³ of solid wood products in 2010, an 8% growth on 2009, while 472,000m³ was delivered in the fourth quarter (2009: 427,000m³).
