SCA’s wood division has reported a 69% growth in 2024 full year earnings (EBITDA) to SEK927m (2023: SEK550m).
The division, which produces 2.2 million m3 of solid wood products annually, saw its annual sales for the year ended December 31, 2024, increase by 7% to SEK5.539bn (2023: SEK5.158bn).
The lift in sales was primarily attributable to higher selling prices.
The division’s Q4, 2024 figures show net sales increased 12% to SEK 1,416bn (2023 Q4: SEK1,264bn), while EBITDA for the period was
SEK234m (2023 Q4: SEK65).
SCA said demand for solid-wood products remained cautious, which can be explained by the uncertain construction and real estate market in the current economic climate.
Selling prices were largely unchanged compared with the preceding quarter. Producer stocks in Sweden were described as at a normal level while customer stocks were low.
Group-wide across all divisions, SCA posted net sales of SEK20.232bn (2023: SEK18.081bn) for 2024. EBITDA amounted to SEK7.143bn (2023: SEK6.807bn)
In a challenging market, SCA reported an EBITDA margin of 35.3% (2023: 37.6%) for 2024.
The supply of wood raw material to SCA’s industries was described as stable. The global and European supply of wood raw material has been restricted for some time due to the cutoff of import volumes from Russia, infestation by pests in Central Europe, and reduced harvesting in Canada.
