The SCM Routech Area machine, measuring 23×4.5m, was specified by Montracon, which produces box vans, curtainsiders, double deckers and fridge trailers, from three sites in Market Weighton and Doncaster, and in Mallusk, Northern Ireland. The Area replaces a mechanically operated machine for producing trailer sides and roofs. The total cost was £350,000.

Montracon senior production manager Stephen Reeve said the new machine had helped to increase trailer sides and roofs production and quality.

The Area’s design is based on a modular system which allows customisation of the worktable up to 50m long and SCM’s Mike King said the table was also suitable for manufacturing large timber pieces such as glulam beams and timber frame.
