Setra chief executive officer Kent Torwald described the second quarter as “the best ever” for the company.
“Development was positive within all our customer segments,” he said. “We can see a continued strong market for both sawn and processed products but are prepared for a lower margin trend as result of increased raw material costs starting in the third quarter.”
Net sales for the first half rose 9% to SKr2.9bn, due to higher prices and volumes.
Setra reported a positive price trend for both redwood and whitewood, with prices expected to continue rising in the immediate future.
Meanwhile, the company has acquired a 15% stake in building manufacturer Plusshus to strengthen its Trälyftet concept, a system for industrial-scale construction of multi-storey buildings in solid wood.
The investment is in line with Setra’s focus on expanding value-added business and part of a long-term effort to grow market share for wood within construction.
