The Southern Forest Products Association (SFPA) is promoting raised floors and treated framing in the aftermath of the hurricanes that have hit the US.

Activities include press releases, media contacts, website updates, a new brochure on blue-stained lumber and talks with allied industry organisations and others.

The SFPA also carried out a three-day online symposium with the message ‘we need to rebuild higher but smarter’, stressing that building codes should encourage traditional raised foundations.

The association has also gone on the air, offering information to listeners via a New Orleans radio station about the advantages of building a raised floor home. Listeners were directed to RaisedFloorLiving.com for more information.

The Southern Pine Council is asking members for input about advertising options, political influence avenues, future workshops and development of new publications to spread the word about the benefits of southern pine and raised floor living.
