Lonza Wood Protection’s Dricon fire retardant treatment has been used to protect the oak interior of a house on the Isle of Skye.
The house – Boreraig – is lined throughout with oak-faced plywood pressure-treated with Dricon to create a natural finish. Panels were shipped to Lonza for pressure-treating before being returned to the building site.
Architect Mary Arnold-Forster, of Dualchas Building Design, said the practice had used Dricon on other projects, including on birch-faced ply for a community hall on the Isle of Raasay and a house on Scotosay in the Outer Hebrides.
Boreraig has been shortlisted in the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland inaugural awards.
