Timber industry consultant Stephen Sabine will give a UK market outlook at the International Softwood Conference (ISC) in Norway later this year.

Mr Sabine, of JAM Timber Consulting and formerly a director of Consolidated Timber Holdings which was sold to investor Rubicon Partners in 2021, will highlight market dynamics in the UK covering softwood.

Organisers have released the official agenda for this year’s ISC in Oslo on October 22-23. The conference part takes place on October 23.

The European Organisation of the Sawmilling Industry and European Timber Trade Federation will cover European softwood developments from both a producer and user perspective.

Paul Jannke, of Forest Economic Advisors, will explain the market in the US and Canada, while Fredrik Westling of Forssell Timber will tell delegates about the softwood sector in Japan. Setra’s Olle Berg will cover the Chinese market.

A presentation by Erik Eliasson of Norra Timber will turn the focus onto the MENA market, while the Baltics will be the topic for Henrik Välja.

Other presentations will cover the Nordics, raw material forecasts, housing policy in the EU and UK, and rebuilding Ukraine.
