The keynote speaker will be BIM expert David Phelp of the government’s department for business, innovation and skills.
The STA says the government requirement for all centrally procured construction contracts to be delivered using BIM by 2016 meant it was essential the timber industry accepted and embraced the BIM process.
Conference delegates will receive insight into BIM, why the government is behind it and the benefits to using the technology.
Other speakers will include Nick Shaw of strategic management specialist Vision4 and a representative from Constructing Excellence’s BIM Task Group.
A BIM case study – the Sainsbury’s store at Weymouth – will be outlined by B&K Structures managing director Nick Milestone and Rob Sargent of architects Stride Treglown.
