Nobord has reported that demand for its Sterling OSB has “increased substantially” in South Wales during the past 18 months due to the expansion of customer Goodwins Timber Frame.

Pontymister-based Goodwins uses the material as sheathing for the outer leaf of its timber-framed wall panels and on inner walls for racking where needed.

The company has grown from employing just five people two and-a-half years ago to 67 today. It has secured several multi-million pound contracts with leading UK housebuilders, including Wainhomes and Linden Homes.

Goodwins turned to Norbord in order to ensure a secure supply of OSB3 according to technical sales manager Paul Tappin, with its certified status and competitive cost also a driving factor.

“When we started up in Pontymister, we needed to find a reliable source of OSB3,” said Mr Tappin.
