Committing to net-zero emissions by signing The Climate Pledge was “a logical step” for the company, said Stora Enso in its long-term ambition to become net carbon positive.
Stora Enso remains committed to deliver on its existing 2030 target to reduce absolute Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions by 50% from the 2019 baseline.
Signatories of The Climate Pledge agree to measure and report greenhouse gas emissions on a regular basis; implement decarbonisation strategies in line with the Paris Agreement through real business changes and innovations, including efficiency improvements; and renewable energy, materials reductions, and other carbon emission elimination strategies; and neutralise any remaining emissions with offsets to achieve net-zero annual carbon emissions by 2040.
