The large family home in upmarket Newport Beach in California has become a benchmark for sustainable building and is being tipped for platinum certification from Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).

About 1,100 buildings worldwide have achieved a platinum LEED rating, including several dozen other upmarket homes in California.
The 4,211ft2 building will become the home of the project managers, but also serve as an educational tool to showcase stewardship of the environment.

Accoya is being used for the fascia of the house as well as balcony railings, rain screem, garage doors, fencing and decorative beams.

"We recommend and specify Accoya wood materials for all exterior wood applications for its aesthetic, durable and sustainable attributes," said architect Jeff Jeannette. "We’ve had success on several custom homes we’ve designed."
